7th – 14th July and 8-15th September 2018
A Yin retreat offers you a powerful escape from everyday life. Set in the middle of a breath-taking Portuguese valley, I invite you to enjoy a week long Yin Detox Experience in the mountain air, deep in the natural world survey by acres of stunning landscape.
Take yourself away from the fast pace and unconscious routines of everyday life to reacquaint with nature, yourself and others. Spend the week enjoying a powerful and loving practice as you detox the mind & body though morning meditations, Qi gong, Pranayama and twice daily practices of Yin Yoga (a deep meditative practice to release connective tissue and stimulate meridian channel flow).
Looking out over the stunning valley is our purpose built Yoga Shala.
A 72 square meter practice space with wooden flooring, comfortably accommodating up to 20 people.
DAILY PRACTICE SCHEDULE
0715 Meditation & Qi Gong (45mins)
0900 YIN Yoga (90mins)
1700 Yin Yoga & Meditation (2.5hrs)
2000 Evening Meal
Yin is a passive, slow and deep stretch of connective tissue, fascia and muscle. A still practice sequencing a series of long-held poses drawing heat, oxygen, fluid and appropriate pressure to joints, tendons, ligaments. Chinese meridian lines and acupressure therapy points are stimulated to create release tension.
Yin is a powerful practice yet deeply restorative. As a practice of somatic Meditation- it can be intense, challenging and often taxing to let the body go for so long. Yin helps develop strength, tenacity and mindfulness, as you learn to stay calm and focused as stretch moves into areas of sometimes great vulnerability and insecurity.
Practices are grounding, centring and extremely meditative. Building awareness of tensions in the body and learning to physically release them by actively surrendering into a stretch and let gravity take you rather than muscular control is a highly rewarding, intuitive and effective skill to develop. When you become aware of tension on the mat, you become aware of tension off the mat. You’ll learn effective ways to recognise early signs of stress, disease and ill health in the mind and body.
Yin is suitable for everyone and provides as an amazing compliment to any physical activity or stressful life.

We have a wonderful, dedicated Professional Chef who will provide 3 nutritious & delicious organic vegetarian meals per day. We can accommodate most special dietary requirements as long as we know in advance.
There is a huge connection between the way we eat & how we experience our yoga practice & our lives in general. Many if not all of our physical & mental health problems are caused or exasperated by the way we eat. With this in mind we prepare food that is calming to the mind & balancing to the body, free of common allergens such as those found in dairy products.
We have to start looking at the environmental impact of the ways in which we source food & the actual food choices we make. Our retreat hosts are extremely careful when they order food stuffs making sure everything is fair trade & organic where possible & avoiding foods that put a big drain on precious water resources & GMO.
Diverse is celebrated and we all recognise that one particular dietary regime is not necessarily suitable for all of us, so over the course of the week you’ll be served you a fusion of healthy whole foods taking influence from macrobiotics (large life Diet), Ayurveda (Indian medicinal eating to balance the doshas (humours), vegan wholefoods, raw & live foods. If you would like extra protein, such as eggs or tuna fish then please do let us know in advance and we will be happy to arrange this for you.
